Travel Retreat

I get it. You are scared. There is no way around it. You had a bad experience or you just never had a chance to travel much when you were younger. Whatever the case may be. You know you want to travel but you are so absolutely terrified and overwhelmed that you can’t even look at a flight without getting anxious and worried.

Work with me as we lay the groundwork for you to have an incredible, transformative, and dare I say, enjoyable travel experience.

what everyone is saying about us

It was so refreshing, and reassuring, to connect with someone who had been on a similar adventure as to the one in which our family is about to embark! Heather was lovely to talk with and had practical advice as well as affirmed the areas that we were already researching and exploring. One conversation with her likely saved me hours of research and planning! Thank you!!

OUR JOURNEY

Well, like many stories of major transition and transformation these days, it began with covid…

In July of 2021, we began to plan a move from Arizona to Ohio so we could be closer to a family support system. We were an island during covid with no family in the area and the year and a half leading up to that point was TOUGH.

This was also the time when houses were selling like hotcakes and finding a house to buy and actually getting an offer accepted was next to impossible. So we began to look at having a home built.

As we began looking in to the process of building a home, I began to dream. It’s one of my super powers. I am really good at coming up with the wildest, most amazing ideas and making them happen.

But instead of dreaming of interior design and finishes, I began dreaming about what we could do with the TIME we would have while the house was being built. We didn’t HAVE to be in AZ, and we would have a year while the home was under construction. If we weren’t tied to a location for a year, what could we do?!?!

This was what our process looked like.

01.

Dream it

It all starts with a dream. For me, I have had “Fill a passport” on my 10 year goal list for the past 4+ years. (Yes, I have 10 year goals along with lifetime, 3 year and 1 year.) Gotta dream it to do it! Get clear on what you want.

02.

FIGURE OUT THE BIG THINGS

Once you know you want to go, figure out the big things! Will you rent your house or sell it? How will you support yourself? What style of education do you want to do for your kiddos? Do you have any pets that you need to temporarily re-home? Think through all the details.

03.

PLAN THE ROUTE

Where do you want to go? What do you want to see? What makes logistical sense and where can you save some $$ doing things like flying to different countries for more affordable routes or longer term AirBNB stays? Do you want to do fun things like educational hubs for kids or do you have friends or family you want to visit?

04.

BOOK IT!

Start Booking things. Any places with good cancellation policies, book right away and cancel if needed, start looking at flights, trains, planes, ferries, any type of travel and get it done.

05.

PLAN FOR THE LOWS

Travel is fun, but can be exhausting. Plan for things like travel slumps, nervous system overwhelm, decision fatigue, and just a tired brain from going to the grocery store and trying to figure out what the heck you are looking at when it it isn’t in English.

06.

GO EXPLORE THE WORLD!

What a magical and profound place our world is. Go explore whatever corner you desire and come away with a new understanding of the earth and the beautiful tapestry of her peoples and cultures, There is no better way to grow empathy, compassion, and curiosity.
